The FIT Kid Method™: A New Era of Whole Health for Kids and Teens

There’s a New Kid in Town… Literally

And this one feels deeply personal.

If you’ve followed my work, you may have noticed something: everything I create is rooted in lived experience. Not theory. Not trends. Real life.

Because for me, growth has always come from asking one simple question:
How can I turn this challenge into something meaningful—not just for me, but for others?

From Struggle to Purpose: How My Journey Shaped My Work

Childhood Obesity → Becoming an Obesity Medicine Specialist

I was overweight as a kid.

Not just physically uncomfortable—but mentally aware that something didn’t feel right. I didn’t feel at home in my body. So I leaned into curiosity. I spent my free time learning about nutrition, exercise, and metabolism.

That curiosity turned into a career.

I became a board-certified obesity medicine specialist, helping others navigate weight, health, and self-trust in a sustainable way.

Psychological Stress → Creating a Distress Framework

In college, I experienced daily psychological abuse from my softball coach.

At the time, I didn’t have the language for it—but I felt the impact. It affected my confidence, identity, and emotional stability.

So I did what I always do: I sought to understand.

That experience led me to develop a distress framework—a way to explain how people respond under stress and why certain dynamics can feel so debilitating. More importantly, it created a path forward.

Postpartum Depression → CBT-Based Coaching

Then came postpartum depression.

It disrupted everything I thought I understood about myself. And that’s when I found cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

CBT didn’t just help—it changed my life.

It gave me tools to understand my thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a structured way. So I became certified in a CBT-based coaching model, helping others build awareness and regain control over their internal experience.

Family Stress During COVID → Learning Emotional Regulation Through DBT

Then came COVID.

And with it, the reality of family dynamics—unfiltered and unavoidable.

As a family, we found dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). This is where we truly learned emotional regulation, not just as a concept—but as a daily practice.

We learned how to tolerate distress, communicate effectively, and stay grounded even in challenging moments.

Perimenopause → Creating a Health Optimization Protocol

Then came perimenopause.

Another transition. Another moment of uncertainty.

But instead of feeling disempowered, I leaned into the science. I developed a protocol to support hormonal health, metabolism, muscle preservation, and mental well-being during this phase.

The Common Thread: Turning Struggles Into Impact

When you step back, there’s a clear theme:

My struggles become my impact.

Every challenge has led to something bigger. Something that not only changed my life—but allowed me to help others in a meaningful way.

And now… we’ve come full circle.

Why The FIT Kid Method™ Was Created

Because through all of this, one question kept coming up:

What about the kids?

Where can we have the greatest impact?

If we wait until adulthood, we’re often undoing years of patterns. But if we start earlier—if we help kids build strength, confidence, emotional awareness, and healthy habits from the beginning—we change everything.

That’s where The FIT Kid Method™ comes in.

Built from my background as a pediatrician, combined with my husband’s expertise as a child psychiatrist, this program brings together everything we’ve learned into one powerful, cohesive approach.

What Is The FIT Kid Method™?

The FIT Kid Method™ is a first-of-its-kind whole health program for kids and teens.

It’s not just about fitness.

It’s about:

  • Movement → Building strength, coordination, and confidence

  • Nutrition → Creating awareness without restriction or overwhelm

  • Emotional Health → Teaching kids how to understand and regulate their emotions

  • Mindset → Helping kids develop resilience and self-trust

Because kids don’t just need instructions.

They need understanding.
They need confidence.
They need tools they can actually use.

Why This Is Different From Anything Else Out There

There is nothing like this for kids.

Most programs focus on one piece—fitness, nutrition, or behavior. But real health doesn’t happen in isolation.

The FIT Kid Method™ integrates it all into something that is:

  • Simple

  • Accessible

  • Sustainable

No extremes.
No overwhelm.
No perfection required.

Just consistent, meaningful steps that build lifelong health.

A New Platform, A Bigger Mission

This is bigger than anything I’ve created before.

So big that it has its own:

  • Website

  • Social media platform

  • Dedicated content and resources

And we’re just getting started.

We’re intentionally creating engaging, practical, and truly useful content for both kids and families—because this isn’t about information overload. It’s about what actually works.

The Future of Health Starts Earlier

This has always been about helping people feel:

  • Strong

  • Capable

  • Connected

To their bodies.
To their minds.
To their lives.

And now… we get to start even earlier.

Because when we reach kids, we don’t just change habits.

We change trajectories.

Conclusion

The FIT Kid Method™ represents a full-circle moment—where personal experience, clinical expertise, and a deeper mission come together to create something truly transformative. By focusing on whole health for kids and teens, this approach has the potential to shift not just individual lives, but the future of health itself.
